Inspiration

David’s inspiration comes from both the muted greys of the Irish landscape and the intense colour and light of Australia.

His work can be considered postmodern- recycling and appropriating past styles in a modern day context.

His work can vary from tongue-in-cheek social commentary, to the intensely personal.

Exhibitions

David has exhibited extensively in his native county of Clare. He has also exhibited nationally and internationally, most notably in the Courthouse gallery Ennistymon, The Hunt Museum Limerick, the Shoalhaven City Gallery N.S.W Australia.

David’s work hangs proudly in homes around the world- from South Africa to Iceland, from the Czech Republic and the USA.

Testimonial

I have bought alot of prints and a few original paintings from Dave over the years. So many in fact, that I now have more than one “Wall of Dave” in my house. The Artefacts print series marches up my stairs to my landing- understated framed prints of pristine observation- black, whites and greys. In the living room, Ennis Friary dominates the Ennis skyline of meandering blues and greens. What I love most about having Dave’s work on my walls is the way the carefully observed still life print sits comfortably alongside the bright colours of the bigger, sometimes abstract canvas.
